BTI was founded in 1985 to provide an alternative, competitively priced soda ash transportation service for product from southwestern Wyoming. This operation involved moving soda ash from the Green River Basin 200 miles north to BTI's truck to rail transload in Bonneville, Wyoming. BTI and the BNSF Railway joined forces to provide this service which continues to this day.

Since, the company has grown and diversified adding equipment and expertise which offers a broad variety of transportation solutions and service.
